Folsom Arts Associations Show 2015 - Unexpected Visions

This is the 3dimensional  Mixed Media piece I entered in the

Folsom Arts Associations 2015

Unexpected Visions Show

November 13 -January 7, 2015

 The Gallery at 48 Natoma

I titled it, "When There Were Trees"
I was influenced by the California drought and the loss of many old trees in the hard hit areas.
I wanted to remind all of us of the Joys the trees bring us.
The judges awarded the piece  First Place.

Go and hug a tree.
And please conserve water.

Folsom Art Association Members Show 2014

I was extremely excited to enter a piece of my art into this show as I had just recently joined the Association. This would be the very first piece many of the members of the Folsom Art Association had ever seen of my work . I wanted to create something that would give them a glimpse of who I am as an artist.  The piece I created is titled, Live In Joy.  I had an amazing time creating it and it really flowed into existence. It is a Mix Media piece incorporating wire, paper, sheet music, quilted images and words upon a vintage box.

I am honored to have won First Place in the category:
3D Artwork

My first ever set of ATC's

I don't have any idea why I have never made an Artist Trading Card before now!
I had the opportunity to take part in a trade of ATC's
with three other gals across the country and
I decided ,oh what the heck, let's do this and try something new!

The trade was to create five cards to send to each of the artists.
The theme was open.
so I decided since
one gal was in New York,
one gal in Florida
and the gal other in Louisiana
I'd focus my ATC's on California!
I did Five sets of Five cards so I have a set for me and an extra set for a rainy day...
Here's how they turned out:
I used watercolors, pens, photos and misc ephemera to complete my cards!

Fun!

A Real Family of Paperdolls!

My younger brother Jay came to visit this week and spend some time with our mother.
I wanted to send home a little gift to his beautiful children
so I sat down to create a little paperdoll/articulated toy for each of them!
Jay has two sets of twins in his basketball-team-size  brood!
(I had fun making these while enjoying their beautiful smiles!)

Happy Spring!
